The Sustainability and Development Makers Center conducts activities across three key areas: Environment, Education, and Entrepreneurship. These activities reflect Gulf University's commitment to integrating sustainable development into campus operations, academic programs, and community engagement initiatives.

Area 01

Environment

  • Transformation of GU building toward sustainability: Daylight entrance optimization, energy efficiency, fabric facade
  • Green campus expansion with increased vegetation, eco-friendly construction, and greenhouse facilities
  • GU FabLab for innovation projects related to sustainability
  • Computer recycling program (50 units for internal use and donation)
  • Waste management systems and greywater tank installation
  • Recycling programs
  • Paperless campus initiatives
  • Participation in local and international sustainability competitions
Area 02

Education

  • Research and co-research projects on sustainability involving faculty and students with publication targets
  • Sustainability course for all programs at GU as a general course for Human Resources, Business, Accounting, Media, and Interior Design Engineering
  • Three specialized sustainability courses for Interior Design Engineering: Sustainability, Sustainability Engineering & Design, and Smart & Sustainable Interiors

  • Entrepreneurship and innovation projects with local, regional, and international collaboration
  • Green human resources research
  • Professional development activities for staff related to sustainability
